Advertising gets a bum rap; it’s blamed for the death of family, the rise of violence and many other cultural Armageddon’s. But it has also been tasked with saving lives, bringing awareness to issues and quite frankly saving television and print from going the way others.
They understand this in Singapore.
Thanks to Mad Men, advertising and mind provoking sales styles have been, once again, on the rise. This ad was created by the breast Cancer foundation of Singapore and illustrated by Andy Yang – a Singapore based artist and illustrator- to bring awareness to breast cancer and the benefits of early detection; the photos are striking and attention seeking, with playful use of the female form.
When I saw this for the first time, I said, audible to everyone in the room, “now that’s an ad”.
