DreamFace. It started out with the beautiful and multi-talented duo: Jasmine Ma and Daniel Carriere. They have spent the last year in development, writing, recording, practicing, finding the right managers and searching for the best musicians to complete the act (Ben Shillabeer on drums, Allan Harding on bass, Josh Eygenraam on guitar, and Ryan Rathjen on keyboard/synth). With such a big year behind them and the anticipation of an even more eventful year to come, their showcase at the Drake in Toronto, on September 10, couldn’t come at a better time. Coinciding with all of the artistic buzz that will be going around as a result of the Toronto International film festival, the show (put on by DreamFace’s managers, Black box Management) is anticipated to be the biggest party during the festival.
I have been listening to these tracks, secretly, for months now and at last, you get to hear them too! My personal favorite is “Science or Fiction.”
Before the band takes off to Toronto they are playing a sneak preview show at the Pawn Shop (10549 82 Avenue) on September 8, the show starts at 10:00 and will be followed by The Whitsundays and the Salteens.
A couple days ago Arcade Fire released an online project called Wilderness Downtown, an interactive music video experience for their latest single “We Used to Wait”. You begin by entering your childhood address and within moments you find yourself watching multiple windows cascade across your screen teleporting you into a self nestolgic musical experience. I won’t give it all away, you are just going to have to try it for yourself.
The Common is turning 1 tomorrow. No Cover, Giveaways from Foosh & The Bamboo Ballroom. Music by Dane Gretzky & Bron, Bob Trampoline, Shortee & Grimezz and AllOut Djs (Shortround & Echo). Show your love.

London-based synth group Ou est le swimming pool put out a slamming track we discovered this summer called “Dance the way I feel”. Sadly the lead singer, Charles Haddon, took his life backstage at the Pukkelpop music festival in Belgium on Friday, Aug 20 2010. “Dance the way I Feel” is a track we’ve been playing out all summer at the Georgie Headquarters. We are happy to hear that the band has decided to still release their debut album “The Golden Year” this October.

Jai Paul came out of nowhere with a huge track BTSTU. The London based mastermind is a cross between M.I.A, Madlib and Milosh. The Georgie crew can’t wait to hear more from this guy.
