At this years first Refinery party at Edmonton’s AGA, the theme was simple and close to home. Sewing the Heartland… With a fashion design contest, a large scale quilt being built in house by the party goers and different instillation’s and portraits to pay tribute to grandmothers throughout the years, it was simple but with an edge. I liked how it involved anyone who wanted to take part, and there was always something interesting to look at or listen to. It is parties like this that really bring Edmonton’s art scene closer together and make it feel alive. With one of the best venues in the city, the Refinery is one to make sure you get tickets to.

Don’t adjust your screens, Richard Simmons is coming to Edmonton on March 24th. Tonight come visit Carol Anne Guay from Global who will be guest bartending from 7:30-9PM @ The Rose & Crown in support of her BUST A MOVE team which is an event in support of breast cancer research. Rich Aucoin’s Wednesday night performance at the starlite room was anything but boring. There was constant popular youtube vid’s projected in the back, confetti flying about, parachutes, chanting, and a very enthusiastic Rich. All put together made it feel like a real SHOW. Even sick with the flu, he made his way throughout the crowd making sure everyone was involved in the performance. Dressed in a “can’t miss him” kind of outfit and in your face personality and voice, it was hard to take your eyes off him. It was a feel good, make you want to dance show. I am confident in saying no one left in a bad mood.
